Brendan Doran, CPA
Brendan Doran, CPA, the firm’s founding CPA and Chief Problem Solver has more than 20 years of accounting experience working in both public accounting and private industry. A native Houstonian, Brendan graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and a Master’s degree in Audit and Financial Accounting in 2003. He began his career with Deloitte at their office in Dublin, Republic of Ireland. Following several years as an accountant and auditor, he became a Certified Public Accountant in 2007 and began his career in public accounting soon thereafter. Brendan is licensed in the State of Texas to practice as a Certified Public Accountant and is certified by the Institute of Internal Auditors as a Certified Internal Auditor.
Throughout his career, Brendan Doran, CPA has also been engaged in numerous community activities. As the father of five children, he has taken an active role in a variety of endeavors. Community involvement includes:
- As an Eagle Scout himself, served as a scout leader in Sugar Land.
- Served on the Finance Committee of Sugar Land United Methodist Church.
- Served several terms as a member, and as president, of local Municipal Utility Districts.
- Participated in the Strake Jesuit College Preparatory Career Day presentations on several occasions.
- Engages high school and college students interested in a career as a CPA in internships in his office.
- Serves as a member of the board of The Texas Foster Care Association.

John leads the corporate accounting division of the practice.
John is a graduate of the University of Houston and has been employed by the firm for over 8 years.
EXPERIENCED TAX PREPARER
Eric Johnston, EA
Eric is an Enrolled Agent with the Internal Revenue Services and a Senior Problem Solver with more than 20 years of experience in accounting working in both public accounting and governmental industry.
A native Houston, Eric graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor Business Administration in accounting.
Eric spent 31 years working for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) as the Director, Commissary & Trust Fund. Eric worked as a tax preparer for Harris H Johnston, Jr. Inc and joined Doran & Johnston in 2016 when Brendan Doran CPA LLC and Harris H Johnston, Jr. Inc joined together.
OFFICE MANAGER
Helen "Chips" Adams
Helen keeps the office running smoothly. Chips has been with the practice since 2017 and manages billing services for the firm, in addition to other duties.
